Jon Derwinski Helps Move Winfield’s New 120-Acre Park Forward

Winfield is moving ahead with plans for a new 120-acre central park that could become a major gathering place for the community.

Jon Derwinski has been involved with the project from the beginning. More than three years ago, he began pushing for the Town to preserve a large piece of open land before it was lost to development. Since then, he has worked with fellow council members, town staff, property owners, and financial advisers to help turn that idea into a realistic plan.

Possible features include walking trails, playgrounds, soccer fields, pickleball and tennis courts, shelters, a skate park, and plenty of open green space. The final design has not been decided, and Jon believes residents should have a chance to help shape the park.

The project will take time, but securing the land is an important first step. Jon is proud to have helped move the plan forward and is committed to creating a park that Winfield families can enjoy for generations.
